My Down Duvet Is Leaking

by Henny
(Tustin, California)

Question:

I bought a duvet for my daughter and she gave it back saying, "the down is flying in my room".
Indeed it jut comes through the material (I did not buy a cheap one).

What do I do? I do not want to threw it away.

Answer:

Hi Henny

The simplest solution is to cover the duvet in a zipper closed protective cover that would go between the duvet and the decorative cover. The feathers will still leak, but will only fly about when you clean the cover, otherwise they will remain contained.

If only a few feathers pop out here and there you could try a starch solution.

If covering up, or blocking the leaks just isn't a good solution for you, there are a variety of useful projects you could use the feathers for.

Restoration is also an option but can be as expensive as a new duvet.
